The note measures 158×67 mm. The obverse features the Aztec sun stone in the middle, which was discovered in 1790. It is made up of a central disc and three rings. Often called the Aztec Calendar, its original purpose is unknown. On the reverse is the Independence Monument designed by architect Antonio Rivas Mercado and sculptor Enrique Alciati.
